  • Direct flights to 116 destinations in 2025
  • Focus on improved passenger experience
  •  First summer season with operations on the reconstructed main runway of the airport, optimized by the recent introduction of rapid exit taxiways

Belgrade Airport, part of the VINCI Airports, presented the latest results and passenger experience improvements during a tour for media representatives.

During this season, Nikola Tesla Airport passengers will get the opportunity to enjoy direct flights to 116 airports, including 5 long-haul destinations, marking the most expanded seasonal offer accessible to Serbian travellers. This expanded offer comes in a context where Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport handled throughout 2024 a record 8.4 million passengers with more than 86,000 flights operated, thanks to its fruitful cooperation with airlines, including national carrier Air Serbia.

After three years of intensive construction, Belgrade Airport has significantly upgraded its runway infrastructure and configuration. The airport now operates a fully reconstructed main runway—its first overhaul in 60 years—alongside a brand-new runway strategically inserted between the main runway and the taxiway. Additionally, four Rapid Exit Taxiways (RETs) have been implemented for the first time in the airport’s history, enabling more efficient vacation from the main runway. On top of that, four new connecting taxiways was built, in order to further enhance flexibility of the ground operations. The updated configuration brings notable improvements: increased main runway throughput thanks to RETs, and added redundancy through the inserted runway, which is capable of supporting all or part of the main runway’s traffic.

In order to have a more efficient and comfortable trip during the busiest part of the year, travelers can check the status of their flight through the airport website, through the airport mobile application, which now allows notifications in real time, and through monitors in the terminal. The airport recommends passengers to plan their arrival at the airport in time to complete all necessary check-in procedures, and to have travel documents and hand luggage ready for passport and security control, in order to speed up the passage through checkpoints.

In order to increase efficiency and comfort for passengers, the number of car parking spaces was doubled, 34 new check-in counters were added to a total of 90 counters, automated border control gates were introduced for departing and arriving passengers in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Construction, Transportation and Infrastructure, a total of 29 new passport control counters were installed, and centralized security control was introduced.

Beyond security control, passengers can now enjoy an extended commercial offer in the airport duty-free store with a modern store concept and a rich offer which includes local Serbian specialties, and in the 26 open retail outlets available to passengers. To enable a pleasant experience within the terminal, the airport’sTesla Square has now been equipped with new furniture providing a pleasant environment while passengers wait for their flight.

All these improvements are part of Belgrade Airport’s goal to provide every passenger with a safe, fast and pleasant travel experience, and to keep positionning Belgrade Airport as a reference hub within South East Europe.
