As of October 12, 2025, the European Union’s new Entry/Exit System (EES) will come into effect

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia has announced that starting Sunday, October 12, 2025, the gradual implementation of the new Entry/Exit System (EES) will begin for travelers entering EU/Schengen zone countries from non-EU member states.

When entering the European Union and Schengen Area member states for the first time, citizens of Serbia and other non-EU countries will be required to provide biometric data, i.e. fingerprints, and a photograph will be taken.
Due to possible slowdowns in border crossing procedures at certain airports, we advise you to allow additional time for checks in the initial period, especially if you have connections or layovers during your trip.
The EES is expected to reach full implementation by April 10, 2026.
